Q | When is this year’s tournament?
A | This year’s tournament (2025), takes place on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 at The LaSalle Landing (formerly Gil Maure Park) in Lasalle.
Q | Can anyone participate?
A | Yes, of course! The Detroit River Walleye Classic is open to the public. It is each individual’s responsibility to ensure they have all the up to date boating and fishing requirements in place.
Q | Does everyone in the boat need to be registered to fish in the tournament?
A | Yes, tournament registrations are per person, not per boat.
Q |How many individuals are allowed in each boat?
A | The amount of individuals allowed per boat is whatever the legal occupancy capacity rating is for each specific boat.
Q | I purchased items from the apparel store, when and how do I receive them?
A | All purchased items are available for pickup at the event only in the afternoon during fish measurements. All apparel sales are final sale and non-refundable.
Q | Is the kids derby separate from the main event?
A | Yes, The kids derby takes place from 8:30am – 10:30am behind the Riverdance parking lot, and is from shore only. If you wish to have your child fish from your boat during the main event, they must registered and paid in the main event.
Q | If arriving by water the morning of the event, is there a separate registration table?
A | Yes, there is a separate registration table specifically for boats arriving by water, see the the map below.
Q | What time should I arrive the morning of the event to register my boat and participants
A | Please arrive 1 hour early prior to your flight starting time.
Q | How do I register?
A | Registration is easy. Once the registration form is available, fill it out online and submit it to us along with your entry fee. More information is available in our Registration section. Boats are encouraged to arrive by water as parking is limited.
